Experience Summary
I come from a family of teachers and there was never any doubt which career I wanted to pursue as an adult. I have earned a bachelor degree in Elementary Education and have taken several enrichment courses over the past three years. I have taught both first and second grade but also have experience in fourth and fifth grade through student-teaching. I have attended many trainings in areas such as reading and writing workshops, thinking maps, science discovery, project life reading intervention, and several technology programs. I have tutored all ages of elementary students in areas such as reading, writing, grammar, math, and science. I have decided to stay at home with my toddler son for two years but still yearn to teach.
Teaching Style
I love helping students find success in their educational experience. I am a very patient and easy-going person with lots of personality. I believe in positive reinforcement and in building individualized learning plans for each student. Incorporating humor and sarcasm into my teaching has always provided me with positive feedback from both parents and students. I use a lot of hands-on discovery and manipulatives in my teaching. My goal is to make students want to learn and to give them the tools to do so successfully.
