Experience Summary
After completing my double degree in Spanish and Italian, at the University of Georgia, I then went on to working with foreign tourists in Naples, Italy in order to master my language skills. Upon returning to the United States, I began working with a major European tour operator. There, my language skills helped me tremendously while communicating with our European offices and tour managers. I have also just recently returned from Barcelona, Spain where I worked as an English tutor to children and adults. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and speakers of other languages, which I have been doing for a number of years. In both high school and college I volunteered at local elementary schools, helping children with homework as well and assisting some parents with English lessons.
Teaching Style
I have taught children and adults of all different ages and coming from all different backgrounds. This has helped me to create a very versatile style of teaching. For example, I believe that visual learning is very effective with many students. With these students, especially young children, I like to use colorful materials in order to spark interest and encourage creativity. I also feel that a learning environment with few distractions yet full of activities and study aids is key to creating a healthy and relaxed atmosphere. I like to encourage and praise my students for their efforts, which helps them to build confidence, not only in the subject area that is being studied, but also in other areas in life itself. Tutoring is truly rewarding, not only for the students, but for the teachers as well.
