Experience Summary
I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English. I worked for 10 years in the Athletic Academic Support Center holding study hall and providing academic support to student athletes from all sports. In addition, I worked for a short time tutoring middle school students after school last spring. Other professional experience I have is concentrated in magazine and book editing and proofreading.
Teaching Style
I believe that all children, given the proper setting and motivation, can be successful students. I love talking with students and finding the things that make them tick. Once I find that, motivation is relatively easy and the rewards are great for the student and for myself. I believe strongly in instrinsic motivation and in a creative style of teaching given the interests of the student. Nothing pleases me more than seeing a smile come across the face of a struggling student when the lightbulb goes on. I try to not only teach students how to succeed but how to excel once they feel confident with the material.
