Experience Summary
I have taught in the primary grades on and off for over 14 years. During this time I have taken courses to improve my teaching style as well as learning how to adjust to each child's learning style. I have taken time off from teaching to explore other business adventures. It has been during these times that I realize just how important it is to me to teach children on a daily basis. I have tutored students in reading, math, social studies and science.
Teaching Style
I describe myself as a "kid magnet". I do this because no matter where I go and what I do children are attracted to me. I interact with children in ways that few other adults can. The children sense that I am very loving, caring, and inquisitive about learning. They know that I understand them. I adjust my teaching style to accommodate what they need to learn as well as the rate at which they understand and apply what they have learned. I know that each child has an untapped potential to learn and that it is up to me in the tutoring situation, to discover this potential and then show them what they have to offer.
