About Me

Experience Summary

Hello! I graduated from the College of St. Catherine and Macalester College (Major course work completed and studied at Macalester College), two selective colleges within the small private college system in the Twin Cities area. I not only experienced varying styles of education, but I also obtained a high quality education that is applicable to many settings, points of view, interpersonal and cultural dynamics and personalities. I obtained a degree in Theater Arts and Dance where I studied dramatic literature that combined theoretical perspectives with practical applications where my main focus consisted of script analysis and historical research pertaining to dramatic literature. My skill set is vast in understanding human experiences, philosophies, writing, research, theoretical interpretation, basic to intermediate math, computer skills and French language skills. I have traveled extensively outside of the United States, which includes two study abroad experiences, one in France following my high school graduation, and the second in London, England in college. Through these study abroad experiences, I have experienced first hand varying cultural dynamics and ways to approach life, its challenges and methods of drawing from individual abilities. I volunteer tutored ESL students from throughout the world for one year while in college in math, English, science and the arts. I currently tutor a high school Senior in language arts, writing, history, and study skills. I also teach and coach basic figure skating skills during the winter months for fun, have five years of nanny experience, and volunteered to work with AmeriCorps within the non-profit sectors organizing volunteer youth activities for one year following my college graduation.

Teaching Style

I strive to enhance the whole child. I believe in drawing out a child's individual and natural abilities to build a range of skills and assets. I find this approach assists the child with developing his or her own voice and perspectives in order to pertain to the task at hand. Through this approach, I find the child understands learning as a life skill that is applicable to life's issues and obstacles, and strives to meet goals with an adjusted love of learning. I strive to follow a long, short and daily goal sheet for each child and work as a teamplayer with parents, child and teachers to achieve the most beneficial results for the child's present and future. The sky is really the limit, there is always someplace to grow and achieve, whether through life experience or in academia.
