Experience Summary
I graduated with a BS in Elementary and Kindergarten Education. While attending college, I gained experience as a mentor and a teacher. I have worked with different age groups in a variety of settings. I volunteered for Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America and for the PA Literacy Corps tutoring ESL adult learners. I refined my English grammar through writing essays and research papers. I have a concrete understanding of how students learn basic mathematics through algebra, as well as the fundamentals of reading. I currently teach first grade at a preparatory school which uses an advanced curriculum.
Teaching Style
I love helping students to become confident and successful in school. I believe that students must play an active role in their own education and it is my job to foster this through creating meaningful lessons to fit each student's life. My patient and enthusiastic nature helps students to feel comfortable in my presence. When a student realizes that he or she is capable of learning in a one-on-one setting, they become successful in the classroom as well.
