Experience Summary
I worked as a tutor for the Computer Science department at New Mexico State University. I helped students learn and understand the concepts of the first computer class (CS101) and enjoyed it quite a bit! I have a degree in Journalism and Spanish. I have experience writing for English and Spanish media, particularly for TV and radio. Teaching was my second career choice and sometimes I regret not taking that path. Not only could I tutor those areas, but also Math because I like the challenge of finding only one answer to problems. I enjoy working with people a lot!
Teaching Style
I have never been a teacher, but I can speak from a student's perspective. A good teacher is the one that identifies the needs of a student. Challenging the mind is very important, but also showing respect, patience and serious willingness to help. Practice is essential for a student to learn. From my personal experience, I would only learn from those teachers that gave out assignments to know where I was at in terms of knowledge. I needed that to realize my weak points and was always happy to know I learned from my mistakes through practice and just before a test. A happy attitude from my teachers always made a difference!
