Experience Summary
I have been working with students in one capacity or another for the past 10 years. My most recent involvement has been at the 3rd- 5th level as an interpretive programs specialist at a science center. For the past 3 years, I have been planning and implementing hands-on science curriculum on various topics for students ranging from Pre-K to high school. My teaching certificate covers 7-12 grade English and Psychology. During my student teaching term, I lead taught 10th grade American Literature, American Experience, and 12th grade AP English. Soon after my student teaching term, I was a long term substitute for 9th grade World History. As you can see, my experiences are quite versatile. It doesn't matter as much what I teach, as long as I'm teaching.
Teaching Style
I have been trained in both inquiry based and formal teaching. I believe in student lead mastery learning. I typically utilize class discussions and group projects to enhance student comprehension. I believe in the use of peer editing and publication as motivators for good writing. I believe that journaling is great creative outlet for students. My goal with any student is to take them from wherever they are at and help them to improve.
