Experience Summary
I have ten years of experience working with youth. My involvement began in 1997 as a volunteer youth leader at a local high school. After a year I worked three summers as a youth counselor and program director at a youth camp. I received my B.S. in Mathematics in 2001 and have been teaching since. I have taught all math levels from Pre-Algebra through A.P. Calculus with great success. After two years of teaching I was promoted to math department chair of my past and current school. I have spent the last seven years tutoring off and on as well.
Teaching Style
I really enjoy teaching and the whole learning process intrigues me as well. I teach with urgency, through quick pacing and small incremental steps. I am very patient, giving of my time, and possess multiple ways of explaining material. Every child learns differently and if one method isn't successful, another should be tried. I have been told by many students that I have a unique ability to make difficult material very easy. I believe in mastery learning and material should be re-taught if needed. The goal is autonomy and fluency for students.
