Experience Summary
Although my vocation for the past 38 years has been Software Engineering, my avocation has always been teaching. I financed my undergraduate education by tutoring one-on-one at the high school level for 3 years. During my career as a Software Engineer I sought out opportunities to teach part-time, evenings and weekends. I have the equivalent of about 7 years of full-time experience teaching High School, Community College and College level math, science and economics courses at a variety of institutions including National University and Seton Hall University. I also have significant experience mentoring as well as presenting tutorials at professional conferences.
Teaching Style
I have always tried to adjust my teaching style to the students with whom I am working while at the same time adhering to the curricula and guidelines of the institution for which I worked. I have successfully worked with students at the remedial level as well as those taking Advanced Placement courses. I am patient, clear and relatively concise. I have never tired of the feeling I get when I see that "light" come on in a student's face. In fact, that is the principle reason that I teach.
