Experience Summary
As long as I can remember, I wanted to be a teacher, especially a teacher of students who struggle to learn. I didn't begin school until I was 28 because I married my high school sweetheart and started a family. Once I started college at St. Mary of the Plains, I was completely enthralled with the curriculum, my teachers and the atmosphere! I'll never forget that feeling of the love of learning which I carry with me today. That's what I want to give my students, the gift of being passionate about learning.
Teaching Style
I give my students the benefit of the doubt. In the beginning and throughout the school year, I assume that my students are giving me their best. It may not be at grade level, and may be sloppy and hard to read but it's what they can do right now. Then, the hard work begins! My students are so proud when a few short months later, they can write a little neater and it's more legible. They can read those big hard words that stumped them just a little bit ago and understand a little more of what they are reading. I'm proud too, that they continue to give me their best!
