Experience Summary
I am a graduate with a BS in Apparel Design, with two foci in Fine Art and Retail Merchandising. My educational endeavors have left me with wide-ranging experience in writing. In addition to my major, I chose to take classes in literature, expository writing, and rhetoric; I wrote numerous essays as part of all classes, and I excelled in writing for the technical professions. Thanks to all of those courses I now have a profound understanding of grammar, format, and sentence structure. My vocabulary has also benefitted from my writing and reading experiences. I tutored a young boy for a summer in 2000 and assisted my mother on occassion in her Montessori kindergarten classroom. Throughout my undergraduate career I was always available to my peers for help with studies.
Teaching Style
I love to help others improve themselves academically. I have witnessed first-hand the success of the Montessori style of teaching, which - at the kindergarten level at least - is learning through play. I believe that children and young adults learn what they live; a lesson must be interesting and the pupil must know why the lesson is valid beyond the test for learning to occur. Effective teaching can open a pupil's mind and help to create a bright and well-rounded person. I love to make a student's life a little brighter with knowledge.
