Experience Summary
I'm a native-born Russian whose education is Russian Philology. I chose this specialty because of my deep interest in it, and have earned BA and MA degrees in its pursuit. My formal studies have introduced me to many interesting aspects of the great Russian language, including its grammar, style, history and communicative nuances. By means of this education, I have experienced the world of Russian literature, with all its myriad ideas and images, through both analytical and appreciative eyes. My 6 years of education included the reading of hundreds of books, the writing of a great many compositions, and extensive research work. Included in my university education was practical teaching. Now I'd like to share my knowledge with people who are interested in learning and appreciating Russian culture and language.
Teaching Style
In terms of teaching style, I believe that results depend quite a bit on the cooperative efforts of both teacher and student, and so I see it as my role to help facilitate this. I feel I am more effective providing an individual approach to all my students. In this regard, I believe flexibility is the key to effective teaching; not everyone responds to the same thing.
In addition, I strongly believe that learning a foreign language and culture enriches one's own language and culture.
In summation, I see my teaching style as patient, friendly, communicative, considerate and very persistent in helping people to understand what they wish to learn; and isn't that, really, the essence of a teacher?
