Experience Summary
I tutored for the Georgia Tech Athletic Association in the field of Earth and Atmospheric Science for two year while an undergraduate. During my senior year of undergraduate studies and my year of graduate school I was a teaching assistant for an introductory lab course. My duties including helping tutor students in the course that needed assistance, and teaching the lab section of the course solo. My strong suits are definetly math and science, although I also scored over 700 on verbal in SAT and have written numerous papers for school projects while at Georgia Tech.
Teaching Style
I find tutoring/teaching to be very challenging and rewarding. Every student obviously learns in different ways. It's important to quickly assess the strengths of your pupil and devise a way to tutor in a way s/he will have the maximum benefit. In Science, I typically rely on teaching students by drawing analogies to everday situations to explain abstract concepts. I find this to be very effective. Mathematics requires more patience, which I definetly have. Repeated practice in mathematics, through drills and sample problems, generally gives positive returns. Willingness to help a student through all steps of the problem definetly adds the learning process.
