Experience Summary
My experience began the summer after my freshman year of college. I worked as an intern in an academic camp that ran for six weeks. My responsibilities included assisting teachers in the classroom, living in the hall with the students, and supervising afternoon activities. I found the experience to be greatly rewarding and continued to work for the program for the next four summers. During this time, I served as Head Intern, the instructor of mythology and creative writing, and Assistant Director of the program. I was also hired at the same place for a one year interning position. My responsibilities included teaching two sections of American Literature, coaching PE, working in admissions, and serving as the dorm head. During college, I tutored students in grammar and writing for a semester. I also tutored a Korean student in English as a second language.
Teaching Style
I am supportive and empathetic while setting high standards and pushing the student to do his/her best. My passion is literature; however, I realize that grammar seems to be the most challenging area of the humanities for students. I understand that many have trouble tackling this subject and try to be as patient and compassionate as possible.
