Experience Summary
I started tutoring in different after-school programs in New York City while in high school. I enjoyed it so much that even while in college, I continued tutoring and being a group counselor. I even had the opportunity to work with a one-on-one tutoring agency in which I traveled to students homes to help them privately. I have also worked as a literacy mentor for daycare children so that they would be ready for pre-school or kindergarten and not be left behind in reading skills. During these last six years, I have taught and tutored every subject up to the 7th grade level.
Teaching Style
I have always had a passion for educating children. In the process, I have been able to observe different teachers and their methods. So I was able to form my own tutoring style and method that has worked pretty well for me and my students. I have always encouraged my students to learn by letting them have a more hands on approach and also more interactive. I firmly believe, that even with adults and more in children, in order to hold their attention, they must be interested and involved. So I strive to make my lesson plans captivating and interactive. I believe children can learn easier if they enjoy doing it.
