Experience Summary
I began tutoring my peers while earning my Bachelor of Arts degree in English, philosophy, and writing. Following my graduation in 2000, I continued teaching in a professional capacity, working abroad in Thailand and Japan, teaching non-native English speakers of various ages (approximately 4-65 years of age). I was responsible for curriculum and lesson planning, evaluating student compositions, and conducting examinations. Upon returning to America, I pursued and obtained my Master of Social Work degree in 2007.
Teaching Style
I feel every learner has the capacity to succeed if empowered with knowledge and a belief in his or her abilities. Recognizing and building upon a learner's strengths and utilizing his or her assets creates a foundation for continued learning and excitement about education. I am a creative and energetic teacher and my teaching and tutoring methodology involves relationship-building, encouragement, and continual support.
