Experience Summary
During my studies at the University of Iowa, I spent over a year acting as a teaching assistant for general chemistry lecture and lab. My responsibilities for lecture included reviewing material that the professor covered in class, developing homework, devising exams, and being available for students that needed extra help outside of class. For the lab portion I was responsible for setting up experiments, making sure all students were performing the experiments correctly, in addition to explaining the science behind what they were doing. I also spent much time independently tutoring high school and college students in math and chemistry.
Teaching Style
Since I have been involved in several aspects of teaching, I have actively learned how to meet the needs of students. I have also seen that everyone learns differently and I have made it a priority to bridge the gap between the subject and the student's learning style. I am very passionate about learning and teaching, so I believe my excitement shows when I am helping someone learn.
