Experience Summary
I am currently the writing skills specialist at a local college and have three years of tutoring experience in writing, two of which were during the time I was completing my Master's Degree. In 2004, I spent six months teaching English in Korea. Because of my experience overseas, my seven years of coursework in Spanish, and my tutoring of foreign students in writing, I have a great deal of knowledge helping students whose first language is not English. I feel comfortable assisting students of any level with writing and have experience working with students from elementary school to graduate school on papers from a variety of disciplines.
Teaching Style
For most of the last four years I have been involved in some aspect of education, from teaching children in Korea to tutoring college students in writing. Through these experiences I have learned that the most important quality of a good teacher (besides extensive knowledge of the subject area) is patience. My philosophy is to treat learners with patience and respect.
