Experience Summary
I am skilled in test prep, math, science, writing and editing. I have done well on the SAT, SAT subject tests, DAT, and MCAT. I recently graduated from Duke University with a BS in psychology and a chemistry minor. I have taken classes ranging from physics and biochemistry to public speaking and Spanish. As a pre-dental student, I took statistics, calculus, cell biology, genetics and organic chemistry. Moreover, I love working with children. For two years in high school I spent the afternoons tutoring children living at a transitional center. While teaching basic reading and math skills, I learned the importance of patience and enthusiasm. As an editor for my high school newspaper, I found great pleasure helping reporters revise their articles. My experience as an editor qualifies me to edit essays and personal statements. In high school, I took many AP courses including calculus, biology, physics, chemistry and English.
Teaching Style
I believe that a sense of confidence is necessary for students to succeed. While students may find some subjects particularly challenging, skilled and caring tutors can make a huge difference. I have a positive attitude and encourage others to be proud of their skills. As an editor of my high school newspaper, I enjoyed working with reporters to revise their articles. I aimed to guide them without changing their writing style. Just as I respected the individuality of my reporters, I will nurture each of my student’s learning style. I am comfortable working with people of all ages and backgrounds. I love to learn and my goal is to instill a passion for knowledge in my students. With self confidence, a love for learning and appropriate guidance, a student can reach any goal.
