Experience Summary
Ever since I was in elementary school, I had two passions: science and teaching. A lifelong pursuit simply began at home where I used to help my younger brother with his homework. After graduating high school, I worked in an elementary school where I assisted students with basic reading, writing, and vocabulary skills. During my undergraduate studies, I made my dream a reality by working as a tutor. I tutored students at the University of Florida in the subjects of general chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. In medical school, I spent my third and fourth semesters working as a tutor for first and second semester students. I tutored students in cell biology, genetics, and behavioral sciences. I strive to pursue a career in academic medicine and train young minds in the fundamentals of basic and clinical sciences.
Teaching Style
I have several years of experience working with students of all age groups, ranging from elementary level to graduate school. I have always felt that working with students is a worthwhile experience. I believe that the key to learning is through repetition and organization. I like to incorporate tools such as making index cards, charts, graphs, and pictures as part of the learning process. I am patient, understanding, and I am fully aware of the obstacles that students have to face. I believe that the secret of teaching lies in altruism; manifested by an attempt to make another's dream a reality.
