Experience Summary
As a student at the University of Colorado at Boulder, I've witnessed students struggling to understand concepts and began tutoring in order to help them. In addition to the courses I've taken for my environmental studies and political science majors, I've also taken courses in economics and engineering. I've tutored high school students and college students, and while I'm not certain what my SAT score was, I know my ACT score was a 31.
In addition to tutoring, I've also had extensive leadership experience. I have been through the Core Leadership Program, the Advanced Leadership Program (both of which were offered through CUGOLD at the CU), and was a Coordinator for the Core Leadership Program.
Teaching Style
I really enjoy teaching. There's two things in particular I find especially amazing: The first is working with a student and hear them say, "Oh, that's what it's all about! I get it now." Seeing that sudden "click" when a difficult subject is suddenly clear is absolutely golden. The second is being able see the improvement they've made. In order to see this improvement, I work patiently and strive to always encourage my students through every step of the learning process.
My teaching style tends to be energetic and enthusiastic; if the teacher isn't excited about the topic, the student won't be, either. Every child can reach their potential given the right environment.
