Experience Summary
Being a student at UNC Chapel Hill has challenged and inspired me to think creatively and achieve excellence in all areas of academia. As a senior at Carolina I will graduate in the spring of 2012 with a BS in Biology and a minor in Chemistry—providing a thorough understanding of science. I have grammatical expertise and writing skills due to extensive research and refutation papers, and laboratory reports and essays throughout my undergraduate education. In the last several years I have tutored elementary reading and writing at the 1st-3rd grade levels working with underprivileged children. I have tutored general chemistry during my senior year in high school to honors students, and continue to tutor college students in chemistry today.
Teaching Style
I enjoy working with children of all age ranges, and it is my personal goal to make learning a difficult subject less of a chore. I believe that having extra help can make a world of difference in academic success and increase the overall confidence and attitude in a child, as I am very aware myself, having had math tutors when I was in high school. My ambition as a tutor is to give your child the same enjoyment that I experienced in learning Chemistry and English. I am patient and dedicated and I strive for excellence—in my tutoring style I am open and willing to use different approaches to teach if needed. I ask questions and also try to tutor with a similar style to the student's teacher, which can be a critical tool during test taking.
