Experience Summary
As a recent graduate from the University of Alabama, I have possessed a passion for learning in hopes to become a doctor. I have earned a BS in Biology and a MS in Human Environmental Science. These degrees have provided me with vast knowledge in the fields of science, medicine, and math. Over the past 5 years, I have had various teaching positions which included tutoring a family of children aged 5-9 in all subjects; working as the Operations Coordinator for the Duke University Talent Identification Program; being an undergrad TA for Biology I lab and a graduate TA for Microbiology lab; and teaching 1st-6th graders fun science experiments after school. I have experience and feel comfortable working with all ages from preK through college.
Teaching Style
I love to learn. It has always come easily for me. Throughout my schooling, I realized I was able to understand certain concepts very quickly & in easier ways than taught by the teacher. I found myself helping others understand the subject matter like me. I am patient, helping students to work through many different angles of solutions until something works. Because everyone learns differently, I am creative & adaptive to the student I am working with. I am also very personable while maintaining professionalism & respect. My main objectives are helping the student obtain a true understanding of the subject matter, improving the student's academic performance, & promoting a healthy appetite for learning & the will to succeed.
