Experience Summary
Since the age of six I have studied classical piano, recently finishing my piano studies at the bachelors degree level. I am currently finishing a general education science course and will receive my official diploma in August. I have taught many students from home as well as in a studio at a local music shop, on campus, and at churches. Teaching and accompanying soloists; instrumentalists, vocalists,choirs, and bands have been most of my work experience since graduating highschool six years ago. I minored in business management and believe that music teachers should act professionally and respectfully just as any other business person.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is very much one of observation and tailoring lessons to fit the student best. I typically use one series of method books, but sometimes choose other repertoire outside of the curriculum in order to best teach the student in the area that they need. I have had students with Asperger's syndrome (a form of autism) and dyslexia.I have also taught all age groups, ranging from 4 years to 65 years. Whether I am chosen as a teacher by the student for academic reasons, to prepare for a talent show, or fulfill an entry on their bucket list, I strive to show true interest in their learning and provide the best explanations and most creative lessons I can.
