Experience Summary
I have been an ESL teacher for 12 years in various school settings. I believe the experiences I have had in the different schools have prepared me to deal with the different situations I have had to face. For example, There have been instances when I have had to teach special education students and this required a special kind of teaching technique. While at other times I have had to teach my ESl students, and my bilingual Spanish skills have come in quite handy. Also, when I was teaching mainstream classes and fights have broken out, I have had to use certain skills to know how to control the classroom from getting out of control.Being a teacher is not easy, but ir requires many times using a great deal of psychology and grace.
Teaching Style
My teaching style is firm and strong. I don't tolerate any nonsense in the classroom.
I expect students to act like students. I give them respect and I expect respect in return. I have rules they must follow and when these are broken there are serious consequences. School is for learning, not playing. Playing is done on their own time, not mine.
