Experience Summary
I have a B.Sc. in Chemistry from UCSD and a M.Sc. in Chemistry from Yale. I have been a research scientist for the past 15 years and have always enjoyed talking about and teaching others about the importance of a strong foundation in Chemistry. I have worked as a teaching assistant for 2 years during graduate school and I have also done private AP Chemistry and college level tutoring in the San Diego area.
Teaching Style
I am a patient tutor and I understand that science is not always an easy topic for students to master. I firmly believe in modeling how problems should be solved and then allowing the student to talk through and "teach" me how to solve similar problems. In science, I believe that practice is essential to learning and that a practical and logical problem solving approach is important.
Even though my students may not all become scientists, I strongly believe that critical thinking skills will benefit him or her in future scholastic endeavors and in a variety of life decisions.
