Experience Summary
While in college, I set high standards for myself. I was not satisfied with less than the best grade I could get in any class. This drive helped me to graduate summa cum laude with a qualified grade point average of 3.95. As a student, I worked as both a biology and chemistry tutor. Upon graduation with a BA in Biology, I went on to graduate school. After which, I worked in research laboratories for many years. In addition, I have taught a biology laboratory college course and worked as a traveling laboratory instructor working with public and private secondary schools.
Teaching Style
I love helping others to learn science. I believe in the inquiry based learning model where students ask questions and therefore play an active role in the learning process. By allowing students to recognize the difference between what they know and what they don’t know, then giving them the confidence to ask questions, they take ownership of their own education. In the long run, they retain the information longer and learning becomes a rewarding experience.
