Experience Summary
I served in the Straight Up AmeriCorps as a member for two years, specializing in tutoring and mentoring in a high school setting. I was responsible for teaching and leading programs for students as well as organizing events. Once completed, I was hired by a local non-profit to administer services and manage a Family Literacy program for 20 families. My duties included direct mentoring and tutoring, as well as identifying and implementing learning programs based on each individuals needs. Since then, I have also started my own Event Planning business which showcases my customer service and strong oral, written, and time management skills.
Teaching Style
I am a strong believer in leading by example. When given a task, I fulfill it to the best of my abilities, taking responsibility for it's completion and encourage those around me to do the same. As opposed to criticizing, I focus on the positive aspects of people's abilities and build confidence with that foundation. With that said, I do maintain high but reasonable expectations while providing the support necessary for success.
