Experience Summary
Over the past 10 years I have had the pleasure of tutoring over 150 children. While receiving a Teacher Education Certificate, Human Services A.S. and a Sociology B.A., I have committed myself to scholastic excellence. In my work with The Boy's and Girl's Club, Americorps, Y.M.C.A. and the Hispanic Outreach Center I have completed more than 1000 tutoring session; in over 50 Schenectady Schools, community programs and public libraries. In each one to one experience, the child improved at least 2-grade level in reading comprehension and 1-grade level in math. I have extensive experience working with people who are learning disabled and have taking several classes in special education making me a proficient tutor to this population as well.
Teaching Style
The Teacher Education Certificate affords me with a well-rounded familiarity with curriculum for all primary grade level and techniques to best understand learning style and peak interest in learning. I critique my teaching techniques to fit the individual, learning from the student what best works for them. I take educational endeavor seriously, knowing games and fun are required to reach children, yet understanding, reading levels and test score are increasingly important for self-esteem and prosperity. My creativity, extensive experience and proven success, show themselves as qualifiers for tutoring positions. I am a committed educator with a strong focus in reading comprehension, written and verbal skills and mathematics.
