Experience Summary
I am currently a doctoral candidate for a PhD in professional counseling. I love to learn and currently teach adult learners at a local university in Colorado Springs. I am an avid reader and have taught Early college high school students courses such as English grammar, English Literature, and Business Writing. I have tutored elementary- college students in reading comprehension, English Literature and taught English as a second language.As a doctoral student I spend a great deal of time revising, reading and researching information for my dissertation.
Teaching Style
I love teaching and believe any child can learn with the right incentives. I have taught at-risk high schooler's and mentored and tutored them from freshman year to high school graduation.I tend to use the emotional intelligence model for teaching since everyone displays their strengths through various characteristics.
I incorporate visuals, literature, and critical thinking skills to encourage students to believe they can learn and to draw their gifts and talents from within themselves.I encourage artistic creativity utilizing poetry, story telling, art and music to allow a student to find their own style of learning and to grow from using these methods.
