Experience Summary
At Middlebury College, I received a B.A. in Math and Economics (Joint), taking courses such as macroeconomic theory, and linear algebra. At Rutgers University, I received an MBA with a concentration in Finance. I then went on to work as an equities trader for many years at a couple of Wall Street firms, and while doing that, I also taught basic algebra as an adjunct professor at a local community college in New Jersey. Most recently, I worked as an academic advisor for the undergraduate business school at Florida International University in Miami, FL, where I coordinated student transfer orientations and discussed and explained the different programs of studies with students individually and in group settings.
Teaching Style
As I mentioned, I love to teach children and young adults. I did this at the commuinity college level, and I also did teach mathematics on the high school level for a year. I also coached sports, specifically swimming during my college summers and youth baseball. I believe in encouraging kids through positive feedback. Compassion and empathy are my two biggest traits that I integrate into my teaching style, along with the Socratic method. I feel it's important to get kids to participate and interact. Also, being patient and caring for them, showing empathy, are important because I think when they feel that, they want to learn and they perform better.
