Experience Summary
With an MA in TESOL(Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) I have instructed international students from various cultures and language backgrounds in academic English reading/ writing/grammar classes and listening/speaking courses through an intensive program at the university level.
In addition, I have taught courses focused on developing workforce entry skills and successful integration into the local community through building basic life skills.
As a placement adviser at Portland State University and currently with Downtown Languages in Eugene, I have taught resume writing, job search strategies, and interviewing skills so that students may increase their opportunities for employment.
Teaching Style
My goal as a teacher is for all students to achieve academic success. I enjoy being part of learners’ growth and achievement and I use my teaching skills and patience to motivate students to move beyond what they consider to be their best and to create a new best. One of my strengths as a teacher is the ability to incorporate different activities into a lesson plan in order to reach students with different learning styles. My travels abroad and experiences as an ESL instructor give me the knowledge, skills, and sensitivity to work with people from diverse cultures and backgrounds as well.
