Experience Summary
My experience includes shadowing/tutoring students with Autism in a classroom or after school setting. I possess knowledge of the unique needs of students with disabilities such as Autism, PDD and other neurological disorders. I have applied the principles of Applied Behavioral Analysis and Verbal Behavior to children ages 3 - 13 for the purpose of acquiring skills and maximizing their independence in areas of academics, socialization, self control, and activities of daily living. Additional experience includes the development and implementation of individual educational and life skills programs including academics, cooking, laundry, social skills and hygiene.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about working with children and adolescents with Autism. Having six years experience teaching, tutoring and shadowing a combination of typical students and students affected by Autism related disabilities has helped to make me a very compassionate and empathetic teacher. I recognize the potential of students and utilize a variety of instructional support activities to enhance the educational environment of students and to meet the educational/training objectives of the program (This may include utilizing modified lesson plans, sensory tools, reward/token system). I am extremely patient and find joy in the success of my students.
