Experience Summary
In the past I have worked as both a teachers aide/paraprofessional and substitute teacher for a total of 4 years. While working as a teachers aide I worked with individual and groups of elementary level students on course work throughout the day. This included things like: helping students with math homework, listening to students read and helping them with reading comprehension, helping students prepare for tests by quizzing them.
I currently work as a pre-k teacher. My work day consists of teaching my students their numbers, letters, letter sounds, and basic counting. I am certified to teach Kindergarten through 6th grade in the state of Kansas.
My specialties are reading, spelling, phonics, and Kindergarten through 3rd grade math.
Teaching Style
I believe that each and every child is capable of learning. I like to make learning fun and exciting for children by relating what they are learning to the real world. For instance, if I am helping a student learn money value. I might pretend that I am customer purchasing something from the student (cashier). They then have to give me the correct change.
I am a very postive and compassionate person that cares deeply about the children I teach. My students sense this and this helps them be more confident in their abilities to learn and in turn more sucessfull.
