Experience Summary
Having two wonderful elementary teachers, I was inspired to become a teacher. I graduated in 1988 with an Elementary Education degree. I began my career as a teacher's aide but soon decided to be a stay-at-home mom to my two children. In 1994, I began to home teach my three children. I graduated my youngest in 2008. In 2004, I substitute taught for two local school districts. In spring 2008 I renewed my teaching license. I received my first teaching job at a Christian school in Indianapolis where I taught first grade. The school downsized so I resigned allowing the tenured teachers to keep their jobs. (I was the last hired, therefore would have been the first to go). Since that time, I have been a substitute teacher and a tutor.
Teaching Style
I love teaching. I care deeply for my students and their individual learning needs. I am able to combine an inviting learning environment with good disciplinary tactics. I am excited about teaching and about learning. Learning never ends. I am ready to learn as much from my students as they learn from me which provides an avenue for growth in both the teacher and students. I strive for success in my students, encouraging them to do their best and work toward their greatest potential.
