Experience Summary
I have been engaged in teaching for over a decade. I taught organic chemistry tutoring sessions while an undergraduate, and then continued teaching and tutoring while earning my Ph.D. in chemistry. In addition to my experience as a teaching assistant, I was given the opportunity to prepare and deliver lectures to over 400 organic chemistry students at the University of Michigan. As a researcher for a pharmaceutical company, I have continued to teach chemistry and biology to the associates I mentor as well as summer interns and chemistry graduate students.
Teaching Style
Experience has taught me that students learn best when they are engaged in the material. A good instructor will be able to take concepts that appear to be mundane or seemingly irrelevant and put them in a context where the students can relate to the material. Once engaged, then the students need to actively participate in the problem solving process to truly cement the learning.
