Experience Summary
I began tutoring when I was in high school and enjoyed it immensely. When I got to college, I became a German teaching assistant. My favorite part was office hours. I love working with students individually. I earned a bachelor’s degree in German and Linguistics; I also took 16 credits each of biology and chemistry. After finishing college, I completed a training course for teaching certification in Texas. In the past year, I have tutored students in German, English and English as a Second Language.
Teaching Style
Numerous studies have shown that children have different learning styles. I believe that tailoring to a student’s individual style is the most effective way to teach. Consequently, the first session will be spent in identifying your child’s unique style. Before tutoring begins, I like to sit down with the parents and student to identify educational goals. Once goals and learning styles are identified, it is easy to come up with an individualized study plan for your child.
