Experience Summary
As a graduate of UC Berkeley, I worked to meet the high expectations of that school. I take education very seriously. I have earned a bachelor's degree in Latin American Studies and an associate's degree in Mechanical Electrical Technology. This has given me skills in language as well as logistical understanding. In addition, I have learned skills in Teaching English through my certificate in ESL and my work experience as a teacher of English as a Second Language.
Teaching Style
I am very patient. I like to know ahead of time what the subject is, get the textbook, and study it before talking to the student. I like to know what areas the student is having difficulty in by giving an assessment test. Once we pinpoint the problem, I try to develop exercises to strengthen the student's skills and simultaneously boost their self-esteem. Whether it is math or languages, their are basic patterns to follow. I like to explain and model those patterns, give enough examples of their use, and give the child a chance to practice those patterns, before giving them homework to work with on their own at their own speed.
