Experience Summary
As a music student at SUNY Fredonia, one of the finest institutions for music in the Northeast, I gained a great deal of experience in music, but also in the liberal arts. SUNY Fredonia is an institution that specializes in well-rounded students. I have written several research papers, which have developed my keen knowledge of spelling, grammar, citation requirements, and writing techniques. I have tutored many students in music theory, and have proofread research papers, program notes for many a performance, and have also taught voice lessons extensively, which gives me a great deal of one-on-one experience. I am usually the person that many students ask for help with homework in most subjects as well.
Teaching Style
When it comes to teaching or tutoring, I find that it is necessary to craft a pedagogical style that will match the learning style of your student. Each student learns in a different way, whether visually, aurally, kinesthetically, subconsciously, or simply by rote. I find that it is necessary to try each option with all students. I feel that the trouble that many students may have is that they operate differently from the rest of their peers and simply need a different approach to learning material. I find that making the material more interesting is of vast importance as well, and I make learning and retention of information a high priority.
