Experience Summary
I have many years experience tutoring and teaching elementary-aged students. I have a BA in Elementary Education from Purdue University. I have worked with elementary students of ever grade level, in both the classroom setting and on an individual tutoring basis. I tutor in all subject areas, excluding foreign languages. I currently work as an instructional assistant in an elementary school, serving as a remediation aide. In this position, I am responsible for creating lessons and activities for students who are struggling in certain subject areas.
Teaching Style
I have a passion for teaching and working with elementary-aged children. They are at an age where they love to learn new things, and also liked to be praised and recognized for their good work. Because of this I provide a very nurturing atmosphere for children in which they will feel safe and encouraged to do their work. I believe every child learns in a unique way, so I incorporate different learning styles into my lessons and activities. I believe children should learn through discovery, and by doing this they will create intrinsic motivation in order to want to be life long learners.
