Experience Summary
I am currently working as a part-time instructor at Austin Community College teaching Composition I. About a year ago I moved back to Texas from San Diego, where I earned my MA in English and spent several semesters teaching a variety of writing courses at area community colleges, as well as at San Diego State University. As a graduate student, I taught composition courses and worked twenty hours per week as a writing tutor.
Teaching Style
I believe that students learn through doing, especially when learning how to write well. I can examine students' work closely, find areas that need polishing, explain why these areas could use improvement, and show them how to avoid problems in the future.
