Experience Summary
Graduating from a private institution that specializes in the sciences, I have acquired a broad and thorough understanding of many disparate topics. Though my degree is in biology, I have taken over 2 years worth of chemistry courses and have spent many hours honing my skills through tutoring and studying for the MCAT. For 3 years, I have tutored both organic and general chemistry at my college. As a small private college, my classes were writing intensive and forced me to become a powerful and poignant writer. I have also volunteered as a tutor for underprivileged children for 2 years during my tenure at Ursinus.
Teaching Style
I have always had a penchant for tutoring. Having a younger sister in high school, she has always looked to me for guidance in her sciences. I knew right away that I wanted to tutor in college. Few things are as gratifying and fulfilling as helping students overcome their academic challenges. I have a very distinct style when it comes to tutoring. I like to stress proper studying habits along with teaching the material. I not only want my tutee to learn the material, but to learn solid studying skills that will allow them to succeed in their future endeavors. I am very patient and fastidious in both my studies and while tutoring others. I have experience working with children of all ages and backgrounds.
