Experience Summary
My love of learning and teaching Math came after many years of trying to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up. I have been tutoring Math at a technical school in San Diego for 7 years. Algebra, Trigonometry and Pre-Calculus are my areas of expertise. I’ve worked with students with diverse backgrounds, both academically and culturally. Personally, I have been attending Mesa and City College in order to obtain an Associate’s in Math. I have gotten A’s in all my classes and a B in Statistics. I have completed one of several required Calculus classes. I am the type of person that will stay up all night trying to solve a difficult problem. I would welcome the opportunity of working with you or your student.
Teaching Style
My teaching style begins with a calm and relaxed attitude. Once the student has established what he/she is having trouble with, I start going over some examples of exercises from their book. I explain, step by step, how to approach a problem or equation. Many times I will write down instructions and/or use examples. I have patience. It’s alright with me if I have to explain it several times for the student to understand the concept. I always use positive reinforcement with my students. I try to explain concepts simplistically; it’s not my intention to show the student how smart I am, rather to show them how smart they can be. I look forward to working with you or your student.
