Experience Summary
I am a former professional astronomer with experience working for NASA and the Department of the Navy. I have earned graduate and undergraduate degrees in astronomy and physics from the University of Minnesota. With these I have a firm understanding of many areas of math, science and technical writing. I also have a solid background in computer programming resulting from my three years of experience as a web programmer. I have tutored and taught high school and college students in math, astronomy, physics, engineering and statistics.
Teaching Style
I am passionate about helping teens and young adults learn so they can succeed in life. I enjoy the challenge of discovering, with my students, their unique learning styles and catering my lessons for their success. One-on-one tutoring allows us to explore learning methods that aren't available in a traditional classroom setting. A student that discovers they can tackle new problems gives them a leap in self-esteem to propel them to success for the rest of their lives.
