Experience Summary
As a Metropolitan State University graduate from the Urban Teacher Program, I have earned my minor in early childhood education and my BS degree in elementary education. My degree has allowed me to gain full comprehension in many areas of readers and writer’s workshop, math, reading, english, psychology, language arts and history. For eleven years, I have strived to educate the students in the Twin Cities area through employment with Saint Paul Public Schools, volunteering and tutoring. The type of classroom experience I have is: lead teacher, individual tutoring, small group facilitation, teacher aid, assessments and service learning experience. Through my work I have seen and understand the importance of educating our youth.
Teaching Style
As an educator, I love teaching and working with students of all ages. Through my experience, I have learned and believe that all children can succeed academically. My teaching style is based on a responsive classroom approach and readers and writers workshop style. I teach and have been trained in educating students through a “Bloom’s Taxonomy” (Knowing that all students learn differently) approach. I enjoy teaching students through discovery, hands-on manipulatives, adapting the student’s own interests to the academics being taught, using a constructivist learn experience and making education fun.
