Experience Summary
Since a child, I have always been curious of the world around me. My interests culminated with the completion of two degrees in the natural sciences. I consider myself a true inter-disciplinarian, supplementing both my degrees with courses in applied sciences, economics and the arts, to improve my understanding of the connections between science and the world. I also believe this is the reason I have purposed myself as a mentor or instructor for much of my life. I find a true fascination with everyday phenomenon, and enjoying sharing that meaning with others. I have been able to do this through instruction as a public school science teacher, a private school science and math teacher, and many years of teaching at an equestrian academy.
Teaching Style
I find that there is something fascinating that we encounter on a daily basis. I enjoy bringing those events to light, and fostering student interest in the world around us. Whether it is a physical phenomenon, an inquiry into a scientific question, or a piece of literature, I believe that the relationship that is developed between the material and the learner is the tool through which real learning occurs. It is my goal to garner curiosity, present knowledge and provide insight so that students may govern their own thought process to learning. I believe that this is what leads to true education, and not simply the memorization of facts.
