Experience Summary
As a student, I tutored a variety of math subjects (Algebra, Calculus, Statistics, etc.) to fellow university students. Collectively, I have over five years of experience tutoring math. In August 2010, I earned two bachelor degrees, a BS in Mathematics and a BA in English, from the University of North Texas. In addition to my tutoring experience, I recently began teaching math at Ivy Tech Community College in Bloomington, IN.
Teaching Style
I enjoy tutoring, because I find that helping students learn, and perhaps come to appreciate something they find difficult, is a learning process for me as well. It is very rewarding to watch someone learn and understand something and to watch them become more independent in their studying. Also, I believe a tutor should be a good listener, so that they can better understand what each individual student needs. I strive to be an excellent listener and to be patient and understanding with my students. As much as I would hate to see them go, I also strive to teach students good study skills and to teach them to become more independent, so that they can teach themselves.
