Experience Summary
My education background includes an associate’s degree in chemistry, bachelor’s degree in biology and a master’s degree in biomedical science. My education has afforded me the opportunity to work in a laboratory setting, conduct research, and write research articles while applying laboratory techniques to a range of science projects. While working in the laboratory, I gained experience leading interdisciplinary research teams consisting of engineering and life science majors. While working toward my degree I worked as a k-12 substitute teacher and a 8th grade science and mathematics tutor. While working as a teacher and tutor my primary goal was to improve students’ academic performance.
Teaching Style
It is important that a teacher demonstrates that he/she genuinely cares for the success of the student. It has been my experience that providing a positive, supportive environment facilitates learning and scholarship in the classroom. Taking out the time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of a student through interactive conversation allows me best address the students needs and establish a rapport with them. While teaching, I like to provide a real-world everyday application, words of affirmation, and even some humor so that I may encourage scholarship, academic achievement and stimulate intellectual curiosity. I love to see children learn, enjoy, and apply what they have been taught; that is my goal.
