Experience Summary
I am qualified to tutor elementary, junior high, high school, or college students in English. I have a Bachelor's degree in Literature with a concentration in Education from Point Loma Nazarene University. I worked at Point Loma's Writer's studio for one year; I tutored entering freshmen who were struggling with their English course in writing. I worked with many students, including bilingual students who needed help with English grammar. I have also tutored elementary aged children in their homework, including one boy with ADHD. I am willing to help any student with any needs. I have a huge heart for children and youth, and it is my joy to be able to help them communicate and succeed.
Teaching Style
I am committed to making my teaching style suited to the student's learning style. Every student carries their own unique personality, skills, and struggles. It is my job to find out what learning techniques work best for the individual. For example, some students are visual learners, some are auditory learners, and others are kinesthetic learners. Depending on what type of learner my student is, I will make the appropriate activities. I also have a strong passion for English, and I will do my best to help the student understand, appreciate, and enjoy the value of reading and writing.
